• Standard cotter pins are formed steel pins that are inserted crosswise through a shank to keep an object from sliding off or keep a pin from pulling out and are held in place by bending the tines outward
• This thin, externally applied layer of zinc provides resistance to corrosion and can give the part a slight tint of color
• Carbon steel is an iron alloy with the main additive agent being carbon at up to 2% content level
• Carbon steel is durable, affordable and generally easy to work with
